I wasn’t born Hispanic, so I was horribly neglected when it came to Menudo. It wasn’t until my 30s that I finally tried it, and Los Balitos was my first experience. Since then, I’ve tried Menudo from several other restaurants, but they always end up being mostly hominy with barely any tripe or other ingredients. Los Balitos, across multiple locations in San Antonio and Houston, consistently makes the best Menudo I’ve had—no one else even comes close. It’s hearty, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I wish I could post this review at every Los Balitos I visit!

Carne asada fries the best in town
-
Dined in and workers were very friendly. Gave me some chips to start and was able to grab salsa from the bar. Carne Asada fries were good but could be better. The fries were hot but got soggy really quick due to the oil from the meat, plus the guac and cheese. If the fries were crispy, it would be perfect. Ordered a small size for $8, but the portion could have fed 2 people for sure. Probably the best value for the price. If I can get the fries well done and/or on the side, I’d give it another try.

The food was very delicious! It was fresh and hot. Salsas were delicious. Customer service was fast and friendly. Lemonades were very good! The place just needs some fresh TLC but I can't complain about the food. I got the 5 rolled tacos and I will be going back for more. Like I said the place does need some TLC that's why I dropped a star but it was a good place to go for lunch.
